The most important rules for mixing materials

  • Material of more than 8 mm in diameter should be crushed by hand, cut up with shears or ground using a biocrusher.
  • Damp material should be mixed with dry material. If the mixture is too dry, it should be moistened, but not too much.
  • The mixture should be homogenous. We have to try and mix materials with a low nitrogen content (hay, sawdust, prickly pears, etc.) with those that have a lot of nitrogen (animal dung, tender plants, grass, etc.).
